Chandelier Quilt (Kannaplis)

Chandelier Quilt is a popular, beginner-friendly quilt design known for its "on-point" layout that creates a cascading, decorative effect. Visual Aesthetic: The quilt features colorful fabric "beads" or "diamonds" that appear to dangle diagonally, mimicking the look of a chandelier.

  • On-Point Construction: While the individual blocks are made of squares and rectangles, they are rotated and set "on point" (diagonally) to create the signature look.
  • Layout Structure: The quilt is assembled in diagonal rows. A typical layout starts with a single block in the corner, increasing to a middle row of about nine blocks, and then decreasing back to one.
  • Setting Triangles: To finish the diagonal rows and create straight edges for the quilt top, "setting triangles" are added to the sides and corners.

Materials needed:

  •       2 Charm Packs or 7 Fat Quarters or Scraps
  •       3 yards of cream background
  •       4 yards of backing (not needed until quilt is finished).
  •       3/8 yard of binding fabric (also not needed until finished).
