Beginning Quilting with Diana Mann (Cary)
In this class you will learn all of the basics for making your first quilt. From choosing and
prepping fabric, to reading a pattern, to making your first patchwork, and finally quilting and
binding your quilt, this class will cover the whole quilt making process. You will make either a
table topper or a wall hanging using a tool called the Tucker Trimmer. This tool allows you to
oversize the units in your quilt blocks and trim them down to an exact size for better precision.
Your instructor is Diana Mann, a Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor and online educator.
Diana has been teaching quilting exclusively for the last four years and has taught over 300
students during that time, both online and in quilt shop classrooms. She has designed this class
to make you successful from your very first quilt!
This class is a total of five two-hour sessions. This is not a learn to sew class, so you should have
a good working knowledge of your sewing machine. Upon enrollment you will receive a supply
list and a link to a video about choosing fabric for your quilt.
The pattern and the tool are included in the cost of the class. There will be some homework to be completed between classes.

Diana likes to use Aurifil ? please make sure that you are using 100% cotton thread that is 50 weight and not a blend or a polyester Rotary cutter that is 45mm and a new sharp blade Self-healing cutting mat that is at least 12? x 18? 6.5? x 12.5? ruler ? Diana likes Creative Grids 6.5? x 24.5? ruler ? Diana likes Creative Grids Tucker Trimmer (included with the price of the class) Quilter?s Magic Wand (optional) Invisigrip ?
